Statue of Andrew Jackson, Jackson Square

Tuesday morning we boarded the bus for historic Jackson Square where we performed a concert in the Washington Artillery Park which is actually part of the levee keeping this "land of below sea level" dry. This is next door to the famous Cafe du Monde -- home of the beignets, which are sinfully good French hole-less doughnuts buried in powdered sugar. Melanie, John, Janelle and I visited this place repeatedly.   Arrangements had been made a year in advance with the park and, sure enough, a security guard was there to make certain our paperwork was in order. We arrived in two waves since we had such a large group of people. Yes, it was very hot and the hot weather at home the week prior to our trip helped brace us.
